Calvin Edwin "Cal" Ripken, Jr. (born August 24, 1960 in Havre de Grace, Maryland), is a retired Major League Baseball player and National Baseball Hall of Fame Class of 2007 inductee, where he was a first-time ballot inductee with the third highest voting percentage in Hall of Fame voting history behind Tom Seaver and Nolan Ryan. He is known as Cal or Cal, Jr. and played shortstop and third base for the Baltimore Orioles from 1981 to 2001.
